The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee has recently allowed nurse practitioners experienced in clinical assessment and management of chronic hepatitis C virus infection, to independently prescribe the new direct acting antiviral treatments through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) General Schedule (Section 85).
